Accessibility

InsiderWatch is meant to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, high contrast, or reduced motion. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the public site, the member dashboard, and the emails we send.

This is a small, actively developed product. We test against these guidelines as we build, we fix reported problems quickly, and we publish what we know is not yet right below. We have not yet commissioned an independent third-party audit.

• Keyboard navigation: every control can be reached and operated with a keyboard, a “Skip to content” link is the first focusable element on every page, and focused controls show a visible focus ring.
• Semantic structure: pages use landmark regions (header, navigation, main, footer), one top-level heading per page, and labelled form fields and buttons, so assistive technology can announce them correctly.
• Contrast and themes: text colors are chosen to meet AA contrast against their backgrounds in both the light and dark theme, and you can switch theme at any time with the toggle in the header. The site also follows your operating system’s preference by default.
• Reduced motion: when your device asks for reduced motion, decorative animations, counters, and scroll effects are turned off.
• Zoom and mobile: the site does not block pinch-zoom, reflows to a single column on small screens, and keeps wide tables scrollable within the page rather than cutting them off.
• Charts and data: charts carry text labels and the numbers they plot are also presented as text or in tables nearby, so the meaning does not depend on color or on reading a graphic.
• Email: alert and digest emails are plain, linear documents with real text (not images of text) and a text-only fallback.

These are the gaps we know about and are working through:

• Interactive price charts in the dashboard are drawn as graphics; the values behind them are shown as text on the same screen, but the chart itself is not navigable point by point with a screen reader.
• Some third-party surfaces we rely on (the Stripe checkout, the Clerk sign-in form, the Telegram app) are built by those companies and follow their own accessibility practices.
• Company logos and politician portraits are pulled from public sources and may occasionally arrive without descriptive text beyond the name they belong to.

The site is built with standard HTML and is tested in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on desktop, and Safari and Chrome on iOS and Android, with VoiceOver and NVDA. It does not require a mouse, a particular screen size, or JavaScript for the core reading experience on public pages; the member dashboard does require JavaScript.

Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use. We respond within five business days and treat accessibility defects as bugs to fix, not feature requests to schedule.
